I feel honoured and privileged to be part of the Growing Together Foundation Governing Body with the opportunity to support two amazing schools in Havering.

I have been employed by Havering Children and Young Peoples Services for thirteen years, supporting vulnerable children and their families. I am currently employed as a Social Worker in the Fostering Team. I completed a Masters qualification in 2018, at Cambridge Anglia Ruskin University whilst working full time and being sponsored by the Local Authority. Prior to this time, I worked in children’s safeguarding teams as a Senior Family Support Worker. My background, experience and training has enabled me to work in specialist teams such as the No Recourse to Public Funds Team, the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub [ MASH] and various Child Protection Teams.

My career started in Retail Management, following leaving school with A’ Levels. I worked in Romford as the Early Learning Centre Manager for ten years, promoting educational learning aids for children. I have three adult children, whom I am very proud of and I am due to become a grandmother in 2021. Following the birth of my daughter, who had complex health needs, I childminded from home, mainly working with children who had complex behavioural issues. I considered teaching as a career, but due to my dyslexia I was not confident to pursue the necessary studies at that time. I was fortunate to be employed as a Higher Teaching Assistant for six years in a Private education setting. During this time, I studied an NVQ in Early Years, a foundation degree in Child Development and went on to complete a degree with BA Honours in Early Years and Childhood Studies. Later I studied a second degree part time in Education and Professional Practise in 2013. My personal development continues, as I am currently half way through completing an Advanced Certificate in Systemic Practice.

I hope that I am able to contribute to the Growing Together Federation Governor Board as children’s welfare and wellbeing is one of my passions and I am honoured to join this team.  Whilst safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and children having a stable and loving home experience is key, I believe educational settings create stability, confidence and opportunities for children to thrive and maximise their full potential.
